Remember those days when you wished all your shopping would just come to your door step instead? I
mean I know the pain for you men especially doing grocery shopping, the only thing you want is to laze
around on the couch and watch the game, well now you have no choice but to rely on apps and services
to do your shopping. I’ve taken this opportunity to list out the most helpful apps and services for your
convenience consisting food, grocery shopping, pharmacy, services and beauty which are available for
download on the App Store and Google Play.
1. Grab
Grab used to be known for e-hailing services alongside Uber (no longer available), which is KL and PJ’s
premier choice for e-hailing. But Grab didn’t stop there, they’ve upgraded to food delivery, grocery
shopping, parcel delivery and even more. Their app blew up quickly God knows how much moolah they’re
making this year alone, especially with the current pandemic. Grab riders can be seen anywhere and
everywhere, when you’re out driving, give it 5 minutes or less and you’ll see a motorcyclist with a green
delivery compartment on his back. Grab is listed in counters of many restaurants- even hawker stalls,
services, convenience stores etc. One of the few things I love about their user-friendly app is that you can
see a cute moving little cartoon rider/ car on the map when it is delivering to your location. The app is
also great for last minute grocery shopping as it will arrive in less than an hour in comparison to other
apps, delivery can only be done after booking a delivery slot.
2. Food Panda
Established in 2012, Food Panda is another famous food delivery company, or as what we see on the roads
are the riders in pink. Food Panda has a strong clientele establishment which has made it #1 on the Food
& Drink app in Malaysia with 493K ratings. They have been head to head with Grab since the demand of
food delivery came about. The company has also grown from food delivery to grocery shopping and errand
running services.
3. Happy Fresh
I must say this is my most favourite app for the moment. I’ve done my grocery shopping at least 3 times
and all my personal shoppers are professional and friendly. Most major supermarkets in the Klang Valley
district is listed such as Tesco, Giant and Village Grocer. A feature that I find cool is when an item in your
shopping list isn’t available, you’ll have the option to either be contacted via call or chat. My mom loves
this app too, she’s a senior citizen so online shopping is still new to her, whenever she gives me the grocery
list it’s like she’s going to cook for the whole neighbourhood, sometimes I feel bad for our personal
shopper.
4. Kaodim
Kaodim is specialized in providing its clientele with various services from home (cleaning, pest control,
security), health & fitness (rehab, beauty & salon), office (hardware/ software support), to lessons
(academic, language & lifestyle/ hobby) etc.
5. Lalamove
Lalamove is an international same-day parcel delivery service operating in cities all over Asia, Latin
America and the US. Good news for potential drivers because Lalamove is not only for cars and
motorcycles but also trucks and vans.
6. Sephora
To all the ladies, Sephora’s here for all your pretty needs. Most women know Sephora, even if you don’t
use makeup, it’s part of every woman’s DNA. Get your makeup, hair products, skincare, fragrance and
more at the touch of a button.
7. Big Pharmacy
Big Pharmacy is one of the few pharmacy chains in Malaysia, providing the best in pharmaceutical
products and services. For prescription medication though, customers would need to upload their
prescription and a Big customer representative will Whatsapp you and assist in your medical needs. A link
will be sent for payment and your drugs (legal ones okay) will be delivered on the same day.
On behalf of Selangor Pages, I’d like to extend my deepest appreciation to our front liners for your
dedication and strength you’ve put into your jobs. Malaysia loves you!
